About me
Amy Mackin is a writer, researcher, and advocate specializing in the intersections of neurodiversity, education, social equity, and cultural history. She is the author of Henry’s Classroom: A Special Education in American Motherhood (2025), a hybrid memoir exploring the complexities of navigating the American special education system. Her essays and criticism have appeared in The Atlantic, Chalkbeat, Literary Mama, The Writer's Chronicle, Assay: A Journal of Nonfiction Studies, Watershed Review, Coffin Bell, The Shriver Report, Witness, and elsewhere. Amy holds an MA in American Studies from UMass Boston and an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
