Julie is the author of "This All-at-Onceness" a linked essay collection named one of Kirkus Review’s 100 Best Indie Books of 2019, and of the novel "Burning and Dodging.” Her newest novel, “Whistlebrook,” will be released in late 2026. She is a regular contributor to
Cognoscenti, NPR station WBUR’s journal of ideas and opinions, Julie teaches both fiction and creative nonfiction, and has an MFA from Lesley University. Her essays and stories have appeared in numerous literary journals, including Pangyrus, Shenandoah, The Writer’s Chronicle, Ninth Letter, Eleven Eleven, The Boston Globe, and Tampa Review. After several decades of urban life in Cambridge, MA, Julie now resides with her husband in a co-housing community in Northampton.
